Lost in the Great Sea is Hexperos’s third full length album. After the success of The Garden of the Hesperides and The
Veil of Queen Mab, finally it comes out a new refined Hexperos’s work of art in a luxurious digipack accompanied by a 20
pages booklet enriched by beautiful artistic photos.
In Lost in the Great Sea we can notice a new sound, Hexperos like to surprise the listener and give something new each time.
Not only we can find atmospheric and ethereal songs, heavenly voices, new classicism, neo folk and medieval recalls but,
above all, this time we can perceive more than ever their celtic suggestions.
The album reflects their fascination for the ancient past and Pre-Raphaelitism, and their reverence for the role of women
and their imaginary in art history.
This is not the first time that Hexperos have put poetry by Christina Georgina Rossetti and Dante Gabriel Rossetti to music.
Not only do they love their works of art, but as they were both born in Vasto - Italy, the birthplace of Gabriele Rossetti
(father of Christina and Dante Gabriel), they also feel that they are a part of a movement to keep their heritage alive
through their art form.
Thanks to their songs, Hexperos would like to accompany the listener to hear stories about real travelers and dreamers,
ancient times, lovers, difficulties and mental images which induce sublime romanticism.
Nature, Celticism, myths are the leitmotif of Hexperos’s music. Lost in the great sea mesmerizes us with the sound of
ancient instruments played by brilliant musicians. This album is plenty of collaborations. There are the cello, bardic harp,
hammer dulcimer, bouzouki played by the poli instrumentist Francesco Forgione, who is the leader of the ensemble
together with Alessandra Santovito; the uillean pipes of Paolo Di Nicola and the wonderful percussion instruments of the
great Francesco Savoretti; the evocative sound of the violinists Alessandro Pensa and Domenico Mancini, who accompany
Hexperos from the beginning of their music travel; the ancient sound of Michele Cinquina’s tiorba and above all the
charming/bewiching voices of the children’s choir directed by M° Paola Stivaletta. Last but not least, Alessandra
Santovito’s flutes and above all gorgeous voice, which as ever can conduce us in various atmospheres thanks to her various
voice styles and her peculiar, elysian voiceprint.
